Reasons to Hire a Wedding Planner

Bride and Groom in vineyards

Planning a wedding involves so many factors. Several tasks include forming your budget, creating a vision for your wedding day, hiring wedding vendors, along with all other little tasks. I’ve heard many couples say that wedding planning is stressful, especially now in these times that so many people are getting married! This season of your engagement should be enjoyable with your soulmate! Do you want to know my secret about how you can do this? Hire a wedding planner!

A Venue Coordinator is not a Wedding Planner

Often, couples don’t hire a wedding planner or even a day of coordinator because their wedding venue offers an organizer. It’s great the location provides this service to you. But I’m going to let you in on a little secret. A venue coordinator and wedding planner are not the same things. The venue hires the venue coordinator to ensure everything runs smoothly at the location and with the staff.

Hear me out, when I was interning at a Columbus wedding venue, I worked a couple of weddings. At each wedding, I rarely saw the bride and groom. We were responsible for confirming the ceremony and reception were set up correctly, ensuring the bride and groom got their food first and ensuring everything ran smoothly on the venue’s end. Since being a wedding photographer, I am used to working closely with each of my couples, and I missed that when I helped as a venue coordinator. Sure, a venue coordinator can assist you with a few things, but they aren’t going to help you plan your wedding!

There are many reasons to hire a wedding planner or a day-of coordinator. Most planners offer other services like month-of or day-of coordination if you don’t want a full-service wedding planner.

Here are Just a few Things a Wedding Planner can Assist With:

Your stress level: Instead of the wedding planning on your shoulders, allow your planner to guide and help you. Giving the planner control means you can take a step back, and all you have to do is say yes or no to decisions.

Staying in budget: Your wedding planner will help you stay within your budget if you have one, as well as keep track of your spending. They will provide information about choices you have in the wedding industry.

Timeline creation: You might not have any idea of when things need to happen on your wedding day, so leave this part up to the professionals! Your planner will help create a timeline for your big day. This schedule will entail when vendors arrive, when you need to line up for the ceremony, and reception events. Your photographer will also create a separate timeline of when photos will take place. These timelines should match up!

Making your vision come to life: You’ve got a plethora of ideas or wedding Pinterest boards, but you have no idea how to accomplish the look. If you go into great detail and share your inspiration with your planner, they will easily turn your dreams into reality.

Wedding day assistance: On your wedding day, your job is to enjoy and soak it all in. If something needs to be done, let your planner handle it. They are there for you, whatever it might be.

I hope this gives you some insight into why it’s important to have a wedding planner! I don’t require my couples to have one, but it’s helpful when they do.
