You might not realize it, but I actually offer maternity photography in Columbus, Ohio! Most of the times as a wedding photographer, I follow my couples through their new journey, like becoming parents. Something you might struggle with is choosing a location for maternity pictures! So today, I am giving you my favorite spots for maternity sessions!
Be Changed Studios
If you’re looking for maternity photos in the winter time, I suggest having them taken in a studio, so you don’t freeze during your session! Be Changed Studio is an adorable studio that can be rented out in Westerville, Ohio. They actually have 2 buildings now that you can rent. All of the natural light that comes into the studio makes the lighting perfect there. They also have really cute props as well as different backdrops you can use. I took my friend Hollie’s maternity pictures here. You can check out her session here!
Coffman Park is in Dublin, Ohio and it’s a really small park. You don’t even realize that it’s there, but they have this adorable bridge that I just love!! If you’re looking for a romantic spot for your maternity pictures, then this spot might be perfect for you. Not only can you get the bridge in the background of these pictures, but you can also take pictures on the bridge. I took pregnancy announcement pictures at this location and they turned out so cute! It’s such a magical hidden gem.
Highbanks Metro Park
Highbanks Metro Park is beautiful no matter what season it is! I’ve been there during Spring, Fall, and Winter, and honestly there’s a charm about this park in each season. Since this park is so big, there’s many places you can adventure around when taking your maternity pictures. Behind the welcome center is always a pretty spot, or even in the middle of the fields. If you’re wanting more of a nature look, I highly suggest taking them here!
Indian Mill is located in Upper Sandusky, only a few minutes off the highway. This is where I took my best friend’s maternity pictures last fall. Indian Mill makes for a cool spot because you can get the mill in the background of the pictures, as well as a neat bridge. The best thing about this location is that there is never really anyone that goes there, so you almost always have the place to yourselves! With the bridge, it almost gives you industrial vibes, but then you can also get the country look with the mill, almost getting the best of both worlds if that’s what you’re looking for.
Once you have picked a location for your maternity session, you might be wondering what you should wear or if you should bring any props. I’ll let you in on this little tip, bring anything you want! Maybe you’ve got a sign with your baby’s name on it, an ultrasound, onesies, shoes, etc. I’ve had couples bring almost everything you can think of!
I love doing maternity pictures! Another thing I like to add is that this session can be just you or your hubby can join you. My goal is to make you feel as beautiful, if not more than you did on your wedding day!
