Savannah Engagement Photos at Bethesda Academy
I am BEYOND excited to share this engagement session I did for Olivia and Kendall!! I had been waiting months to photograph their Savannah Engagement Photos at Bethesda Academy and Tybee Island Engagement!
Olivia reached out to me asking if I could take their engagement photos in Savannah, and of course, I said yes!! I explained that while I live in Ohio, I also serve the Savannah, Hilton Head, and Tybee areas. She wanted to do their engagement session in the summertime, so I let her know that I would be down there for vacation, and it worked out perfectly that they were also on vacation that same time! Since we both had limited time while on vacation, we had to schedule this session around our travels.
It seemed like the weather was the same every day during my stay there. The night before their session, the forecast said it was going to rain starting at the time of their session. We had decided to push their start time earlier because of the possibility of thunderstorms. I am so glad they fully trusted me as their Savannah engagement photographer because we had perfect weather for their Savannah engagement photos. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot to head back to our vacation rental, the sky opened up, and there was a terrible storm!
These two sweet souls are from Virginia and met while in college. They’ve officially been together for six years and are getting married next year. While they were on vacation last year in Hilton Head Island, Kendall popped the question. It was only fitting that they had their engagement photos taken on Tybee! They have a two-year-old Cocker Spaniel Poodle mix. From the sounds of it, he’s wild, just like my Goldendoodle, Savannah.
Olivia knew she wanted some pictures with tons of dripping spanish moss in the background and some beach photos when planning their engagement photos. We had thought of going to Wormsloe Historic Site because of the beautiful trees lined along the driveway, but I had another idea! As I was searching around for locations, I stumbled across Bethesda Academy. I knew this location would be just as stunning! It blew both Olivia’s and my expectations out of the water! We were the only ones there, other than a few workers, so it was nice to be present with them and not have to worry about getting cars in the background. Olivia wore the cutest Lilly Pulitzer dress, and Kendall wore navy blue pants with a white button-up shirt that matched her perfectly.
After we were done taking photos at Bethesda, we headed to Tybee Island! Since it was summertime, I knew the beach would be packed, especially the closer we got to the pier. I thought if we could find an area where we could see the lighthouse in the background, that would be amazing. Thanks to Google Earth, I found exactly what I was hoping for! Olivia had also requested a few photos with the swings that are all over Tybee, and to our surprise, there was one right where we were!
They switched their outfits for their Tybee Island engagement photos. Kendall wore a light blue shirt with a pair of tan shorts, and Olivia wore a cute white dress with a little puff sleeve. You can never go wrong with a white dress on the beach! These photos with the lighthouse in the background are seriously so magical! They remind me so much of a Nicholas Sparks movie.
Even though I was on vacation, Kendall and Olivia’s engagement session was probably the biggest highlight of my trip! I had so much fun with them, exploring new areas for us and getting amazing photos of them. I look at these photos and can’t believe I photographed them; that’s how much I love them! When I photograph sessions and weddings in the Lowcountry, I get a different feeling than when I’m back in Ohio. It makes me so happy that couples trust me to photograph them in a city I hope to call home someday!
