Kaytie and Charlie had a beautiful wedding at Brookshire in Delaware, Ohio. These two have been together for eight years and they could not wait to finally marry each other!! Brookshire Event Venue is a gorgeous, sophisticated wedding facility that’s a dream. They recently renovated the entire place, which added more beauty, and from a photographer’s view, the property gives an amazing backdrop for portraits.
I had met up with Kaytie in August to talk about their wedding timeline and she mentioned that they were not even sure if Charlie would be able to be at their wedding! Eek!!! Charlie is in the military and is stationed in Alaska. The military had lifted their travel ban, but Alaska had their own travel ban because of COVID-19. Thankfully, TWO weeks prior to their wedding, Charlie was approved to travel home for the wedding. Golly, I was stressed out for them. So when I got the good news that he was coming home, I was so excited for them because I knew how much this meant to them.
On their wedding day you could just sense all of the love and joy around. Kaytie decided to do a first look with her father, which was super sweet and memorable. Brookshire has amazing glass sliding doors, so Kaytie’s mother was able to capture their first look from inside and needless to say, you could see the happy tears flowing. After that, Kaytie and Charlie exchanged gifts. Kaytie gave Charlie a watch for him to wear that day, and Charlie got Kaytie a wooden plaque with their names and wedding date engraved. They’d each written a letter to each other, so once they exchanged gifts, they read their letters and then did a first look. The two of them coming together to see each other before the ceremony was a magical and extraordinary moment.
During the ceremony, they decided to have a peanut butter and jelly unity ceremony! I had never seen this before, but I love this idea! Together, they made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and then shared a bite during the ceremony. So cute!
During the reception, guests danced the night away having the time of their lives, while outside there was a bonfire area where people could gather around. It was such a fun filled day! Kaytie and Charlie ended their special day with a dance with just the two of them on the dance floor in the reception room before they departed. I loved that they decided to do this! I was honored to be part of this journey with these two. In the spring, Kaytie will officially be moving to Alaska to finally be with her husband!
