Just a heads up…this blog is a bit lengthy. But it’s totally worth it!! You’ll see pictures I took from an amazing night, and please, go check out all of the incredible vendors that made this night possible!
Back in July 2018, I had this crazy idea come to mind that I wanted to co-host a styled shoot with my friend Sierra. For those of you who have no idea what a styled shoot is, let me explain that first. A styled shoot is an event for photographers to attend and it basically entails a fabricated wedding that comes together in one day and lasts approximately 3 hours. It includes models, wedding gowns, flowers, hair and makeup, and everything else you can imagine at a wedding. So I ran this idea past her and we decided to go for it! We both go to college full-time and run our own businesses, so we opted to start planning early, and not get too stressed over it! Even though the event was nearly 10 months away, we started researching venues and vendors we wanted to potentially work with. To be honest, we got frustrated many different times during the planning process of the event. It seemed we either couldn’t find the perfect venue or vendor, or they weren’t available. There were a few times we even considered giving up and cancelling it. However, we approached the lovely Cedar Springs Pavilion, and our mood quickly changed from debby downers to happy campers! Thankfully, everything started to fall into place and we narrowed down the details of getting all of the vendors lined up to contribute their products and services.
We had 13 AMAZING girls show up to attend our styled shoot, and we absolutely loved getting to know each and every one of them! It’s incredible how several different photographers can be taking pictures of the same subject, yet we all get different angles and looks. One of the things I love about styled shoots is getting to know the other photographers and making a connection with them. We all learn from each other and it’s so rewarding.
As I was laying in bed that night after our event, I thought about how proud I was of us and how we’d just pulled off an amazing styled shoot. I’m actually going to admit that I almost teared up (which I never do.) This shoot was everything I had ever dreamed of! I couldn’t be more thankful to Sierra, and both of our families for all of their help that day! Now it’s finally time for you to get a glimpse of what this incredible day looked like…Enjoy!
