A Weekend Getaway to Savannah, Georgia

Last weekend my grandpa, grandma and I traveled to Savannah, Georgia for a weekend getaway. It was supposed to be a business trip, but some things came up, and it ended up being a very relaxing getaway!! This has been my busiest month yet, so taking a short break in the middle of the craziness was welcome!

Savannah has won my heart and it would be a DREAM to move there someday. When I’m with my family taking our yearly vacation to that area, we typically spend a day there. Considering there’s so many of us, it can be hard to go out to eat and see all of the different things Savannah has to offer. So since this trip was just the three of us, we got to explore the city more than usual.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in the historic district. There was a rooftop pool, and the view was amazing! It overlooked the bridge, and Riverfront Street. On Friday night, we walked to a yummy Italian restaurant, Bella Napoli Italian Bistro. Afterwards, we walked around a few blocks so I could take pictures of the beautiful architecture. Then we walked over to Leopold’s Ice Cream. It was super tasty and refreshing because of the southern heat! On Saturday,  we got up early and went for breakfast at Clary’s Cafe. The waiting line was out the door, but was well worth it! Their biscuits and gravy were to die for. The sun was shining bright, with not a lot of clouds in the sky and it was HOT! So, we went back to the hotel and enjoyed many hours by the pool, which lead to me getting sunburnt. After some fun in the sun, we adventured out to Tybee Island. We’d never been to that area, so we were excited to see what it was all about. Cute little beach homes lined the streets with colorful shutters. The beach was surprisingly packed. We ventured to a pizza place that had been recommended to us, Huc-A-Poos Bites and Booze. The atmosphere of the restaurant was so much fun! There was a big deck with seating outside, and a one man band playing music. Their pizza was out of this world and the pieces were bigger than my face! We’re glad we adventured to an area we’d never visited. On Monday, we went to breakfast and walked along the riverfront going through some shops and buying delicious candy. Eventually, we made our way back to the airport, and spent most of the day there!

It was such a fun little trip and I am so glad that my grandparents were able to join me!
