This past week, my family and I have been on what we called a “staycation.” We planned on going to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for our annual family vacation, but decided it was probably best to just stay home with everything going on. We wanted to make the best out of it though and still enjoy our week!
We enjoyed many pool days, relaxing poolside and soaking up the sun. We bought a couple new board games to play and we had family game night almost every night! It was a lot of fun trying out new games and switching things up. If you ever need some new games to try with your family, I definitely recommend getting…Monopoly: Cheater’s Edition and Ticket to Ride. Another fun thing was my grandpa had the idea of us getting scratch off lottery tickets and have a “scratch off party” that included having pizza. Of course we didn’t win anything big like we hoped, but it was still fun!
To get out of town for a day, we decided to try something very different. We got the idea of going different places to get something to drink, an appetizer, entrees, and finally dessert. We headed to Amish country to drive around while making our pit stops. Before heading out we stopped and got drinks at Starbucks. Our next stop was at The Barn Restaurant over in Smithville, Ohio. I remember going there years ago and always enjoying their food. We all got different appetizers and sat out in the parking lot, enjoying the beautiful weather. After driving around for a little bit, we headed over to get our entrees from Dutch Valley, which is a restaurant that is near a hotel we used to stay at in Sugarcreek. As always, the food was yummy! Finally on our way home, we stopped to get ice cream from Dairy Queen which was the perfect way to end a fun adventure! It was a unique way of eating, and not something we were used to, but we all had so much fun!
There wasn’t a beach in our vacation plans this year, but we still had a lot of fun and made new memories! Enjoy these pictures from the past week 🙂
