Engagement Session | Kaytie and Charlie

I’m so excited to finally share this engagement session from the spring. Kaytie and Charlie are an adorable couple that have been together for 7 years and started their love journey back in high school. Charlie is in the military, serving our country and stationed in Alaska. In May of 2019, Kaytie graduated from Defiance College and Charlie was coming home to Ohio to see her graduate. She knew that he had thought about proposing while he was home, so she scheduled their engagement pictures with me while he was still home. He did pop the big question on Cinco De Mayo while celebrating at his brother’s house. With twinkling lights aglow in the background, and everyone inside except the two of them, these two shared a special moment that will be a wonderful memory they’ll share forever!

Since Charlie was on leave, they really only had a week to start planning their wedding. Thankfully Kaytie had thought ahead enough to have some ideas of their wedding details organized.  They are getting married at Brookshire in Delaware this year and I am super excited to photograph their big day. We were thrilled that we were able to capture their engagement pictures before Charlie left to go back to Alaska. It’s crazy to think that the next time Charlie will be home will be for their wedding! How crazy is that?!

One of my favorite things that Kaytie shared with me about their love story is actually a little ironic, or as she said, maybe even fate. When Kaytie’s parents went on their first date, her father got his car stuck in the driveway before they left and he ended up meeting her grandfather because he needed to ask for help. It turns out, that on Kaytie and Charlie’s first date, they also got stuck in the driveway and Charlie had to ask her father for help and that was the first time they met. Now if that isn’t fate, I don’t know what is!

Charlie and Kaytie…I want to commend both of you for loving each other enough to be apart while he’s serving in Alaska. It can’t be easy for either of you, but I have no doubt it’s grown your relationship. I cannot wait to photograph your wedding and capture the beautiful love you share!
